Environmental Recovery Group, Inc. and Moran Towing Corporation Announce the Formation of Moran Environmental Recovery, LLC (MER) Press Release January 18, 2002 JACKSONVILLE, FL – January 18, 2002 – Environmental Recovery Group, Inc. and Moran Towing Corporation announce the formation of Moran Environmental Recovery, LLC (MER) which combines the assets of their respective subsidiaries, Turecamo Environmental Services, Inc. (Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA) and Environmental Recovery, Inc. (Jacksonville, FL). MER brings together two industry leaders, who share a deep commitment to protecting and cleaning up the environment. Drawing upon the expertise and reputation of both companies, MER offers diversified environmental contracting services including emergency spill response, industrial/marine cleaning, site remediation, facility decontamination, and pollutant storage system construction. The company affiliates provide complementary services for disposal of industrial wastewaters, used oil recycling, and marine tug and barge services. "Unlike many environmental contractors, MER has the resources and qualifications to perform virtually all operations with in/house personnel and equipment. Customers can expect practical project execution with limited third party mark/ups. We are committed to delivering quality services in the most cost-effective manner," said Steve Jenkins, president for MER. "Our personnel deliver value measurable in terms of quality, responsiveness, and cost. Our goal is simple, we want to earn repeat business." MER has earned the confidence of many of the most demanding and sought after clients in the Southeastern U.S. through its commitment to customer satisfaction, quality workmanship, and regulatory compliance. Prior to closing, TES and ERG worked together under a strategic partnership agreement for almost two years. The combination of resources and geographic reach has enabled both companies to significantly enhance customer service abilities. In January of 2001, the MER Team was awarded the LSCC Emergency Spill Response contract for the Charleston, SC cooperative. Our capabilities were thoroughly evaluated by several of Charleston’s leading industrial environmental professionals. The final award resulted in significant cost savings and quality improvement for the LSCC. The MER Team also served as lead response contractors in three major industry lead USCG PREP exercises in Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA, and Jacksonville, FL. Our joint efforts have already demonstrated the effectiveness of a large cross-trained work force, depth in terms of experienced management personnel, and extensive operating licenses and certifications. In little over a year, our partnership has worked for employees and customers alike. Diversity of personnel, equipment, regulatory compliance programs, risk management tools, and service lines provides customers with measurable added value. Greater access to quality customers generates growth opportunities for our veteran management and field employees. MER has over 100 full time employees and one of the largest inventories of specialized environmental service equipment in the Southeast. "MER employees and the parent companies, Moran Towing Corporation and Environmental Recovery Group, have vested personal interests in the success of our customers and the well being of the communities we serve," commented William Muller, Moran Towing Corporation’s senior vice president. "MER personnel are clearly our strongest assets, and comprise a long list of professionals who consistently go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that our work exemplifies our dedication to safety, regulatory compliance, and quality output." About Moran Towing Corporation For over 140 years, MORAN® has provided ship docking services, liquid and dry bulk transportation, and worldwide ocean towing.
