January 22, 2004 To: All Hands Effective January 1, 2004 Mark Vanty has been named Vice President and General Manager of Moran’s Virginia division, Moran Towing of Virginia. In this position he will be responsible for all aspects of managing Moran’s Norfolk based operations, including shipdocking and towing fleets, the Navy Tractor tug fleet, the Cove Point firefighting tugs, and our Chesapeake based inland push boat fleet. Mark replaces Paul Horsboll, who retired on December 31, 2003 after 44 years of service to Moran. Mark, a 1986 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy began his career at Moran immediately following graduation from Maine Maritime. Mark initially held positions of increasing responsibility in Moran’s tug and barge divisions. In 1993, Mark was asked to lead the startup of Moran’s Miami operation. Mark developed the Miami operation, and then in 1995 moved to Philadelphia where he managed Moran’s Philadelphia based fleet. In 1997, Mark was asked to return to Connecticut to head up Moran’s New York based harbor and offshore fleets. During his time in Connecticut Mark held several positions and worked on a variety of key corporate projects while also receiving his MBA from the University of CT in 1998.
