June, 2004 Moran Towing of Virginia awarded U.S. Navy contract The U.S. Military Sealift Command has awarded Moran Towing of Virginia the contract to provide harbor support and tug assist services to U.S. Navy ships in Norfolk, Virginia, site of the world’s largest naval station. The Norfolk naval station occupies 4,300 acres and is home to 75 ships and 134 aircraft. Supporting the Navy ships will be seven of MORAN’s Marci Class tugs; Marci Moran, Patricia Moran, Kerry Moran, Karen Moran, Susan Moran, Tracy Moran, and Wendy Moran. MORAN’s Marci Class tractor tugs are highly maneuverable and were designed with a low profile to properly handle Navy ships. ![]() |
