Ship Docking and Harbor Services Marine Transportation LNG Activities Offshore and Contract Towing Special Projects Environmental Services |
As a leading supplier of tugs and towing expertise in the Atlantic, Gulf and Caribbean regions, Moran is often called upon to complete exceptionally demanding, special projects. It was the first company in the world, for instance, ever contracted to transport nuclear fuel rods by barge. Besides towing all manner of ships and barges, the company's tugs have towed drilling rigs, LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) Spheres, a Moran-owned LNG barge, barracks barges and a variety of other floating structures. Moran played a major role in the removal and replacement of the Coleman Bridge in Virginia, for the Tidewater Construction Company. Moran provided up to ten tugs, working in concert, to remove the aging bridge and replace it with a new, prefabricated structure. The new bridge was ready for traffic in a mere 12 days. |

Since its founding in the mid-nineteenth century, the company's tugs have been instrumental in the rescue of hundreds of vessels in oceans and seas around the world. |
